A client recently sent me a great article on Axios.com called “The Pandemic Real Estate Market,” which is, as you can probably imagine, a summation of what is going on in American real estate given the current COVID outbreak. Namely, it analyzes why homebuyers want to move to large, suburban homes right now.
Per the article, and based on what we are seeing here in Miami, people are leaving their small homes in urban centers for large spaces in the suburbs. The piece references families moving out of New York City in favor of Connecticut, where their children can ride their bikes and the family can be more comfortable. We are absolutely seeing this shift locally with Brickell residents looking for single family homes, and with buyers moving down from places like New York, both because of the larger properties and because there is no state income tax here in Florida.
As the Axios.com piece began listing attributes that urban-dwellers are looking for in a suburban home, my listing at 5002 SW 86 Street sprang to mind because it truly does have a perfect setup for anyone’s pandemic needs.
Home Office and Home Schooling Space. Between working from home and kids attending virtual school, many families are on top of each other. Not so at 86th Street, where there is a large, dedicated home office, a downstairs guest room, and a service bedroom, all of which would be perfect office space. While the grownups work, virtual school could take place either in the spacious upstairs bedrooms, library space, or the dining room would be ideal for a multi-child “classroom.”
Outdoor space is at a premium. As we all know, we are relegated to dining outside at restaurants, and entertaining at home has definitely become an outdoor activity during the pandemic. 5002 SW 86 Street has it in spades! The lush, private 34,456 square foot lot is completely walled and gated and is utterly private. Outdoor living spaces include a deep patio that spans the back of the home, includes a TV area, and propane connection for all of your grilling. The sparkling pool includes arcing jets and is surrounded by a beautiful, open pool deck, as well as gas-fed firepit and tiki torches! As if that is not enough, there is also a large 2nd floor balcony – you can definitely entertain in the fresh air!
Exercising is happening at home. Although gyms are re-opening, many people have opted to continue working out from home. 86th Street has a perfect setup for that, with one upstairs bedroom that is already mirrored. If that does not work, then a small downstairs bedroom could be a great workout space, or if you like to exercise outside then there is close proximity to bike paths, golf courses, dog parks, and, of course, the home’s own backyard!
Perfect home. The house also offers a full-house generator, there is easy access for no-contact deliveries, the garage is air-conditioned so that Fido can comfortably hang out there during those long Zoom meetings, plus it is in one of Miami’s finest neighborhoods, Ponce Davis!
