Hungry? Head to Miami! That is what many of New York’s finest restauranteurs are doing right now, bringing outposts of some of NYC’s finest eateries to South Florida. These include Carbone, ZZ’s, and Pastis migrating south to cater to New York transplants and locals alike. Star chefs like Marcus Samuelsson and Masaharu Morimoto are also opening concepts in our neck of the woods! These openings are not just bringing new dining establishments from New York to Miami, but their purveyors (butchers, specialty fishmongers, etc.) are also moving down, or at least opening new channels to the Miami area.
I am all for these new-to-Miami restaurants coming down here. These swanky spots bring money to our economy by driving tourism, employing staff, and bringing executives to Miami to live. Any sort of economic boost is great for our town in general and that, in turn, fuels the real estate market. Overall, the movement of New York restaurants is a win-win for hungry diners and for Miami!
