My office is right across from the fire station on US1 and Riviera Drive, which has been under construction for some time now. Recently I looked out of the window and noticed a drone hovering nearby, then realized that something was going on at the station. There was a huge American flag hanging from one of the fire truck’s ladders, another fire engine and a Gables trolley were parked nearby, and there was a ceremony of some sort happening. Turns out, it was the ribbon cutting and inauguration for the new Coral Gables fire station and trolley depot.
The new fire station has 4 bays for emergency vehicles, a new training tower (it is always exciting to look out of the office window and see the firefighters rappelling down the side!), and incident command center. The trolley station is now much closer to city routes than its predecessor, and it houses the city’s backup 911 center.
I honestly did not know that all of these features were just across the street from the BHHS EWM Realty office, and I feel all that much safer for it!
