Over the weekend I caught a piece on NBC Nightly News about how people are flocking to Florida during the Pandemic. The reporter spoke mainly to restauranteurs, who indicated that the less-stringent COVID policies in the Sunshine State have made it easier and more profitable to run their dining establishments here than it would be to keep a restaurant open in other parts of the country. The news report showed clips of packed restaurants with tables close to one another, and then went on to say that, although the restrictions here are looser, the COVID numbers are no higher than they are in more locked-down states like California or New York.
The piece made Florida sound very appealing to tourists who are tired of Pandemic restrictions, and to those who are looking to move their homes and businesses here. We are definitely picking up on those sentiments when it comes to real estate in South Florida. Not only am I currently working with local buyers, but I also have people in from Ohio, New York, and Connecticut, all of whom appreciate our openness, our fabulous winter weather, and the fact that we do not have a state income tax.
