Summer Time in Miami

Summer is always an interesting time for me. My children often leave for long periods of time for camp and when they are back we take some trips. I am always juggling between the relaxing pace of summer and the frenzy of getting as much done as possible when I am here and have fewer or no kid responsibilities. Don’t get me wrong, I love summer! I don’t even hate the heat. I just seem to throw myself off balance while trying to balance my life. I know many of you must experience the same thing. There is a sick side of me that kind of enjoys the frenzied pace I get into trying to get as much taken care of as possible before leaving.

Most trips I take allow me to be in constant communication if necessary. My family loves the boat, so we actually altered vacation life from the Bahamas to Key West years ago so we can enjoy the same beautiful diving and spear fishing, while being in contact. That being said, I took a wonderful trip recently on a friend’s beautiful yacht to the Dry Tortugas and Cuba. I was forced to relax and disconnect because there was no internet and no cell reception. I thought I had outsmarted everyone by finding a phone you buy minutes on that can be used in Cuba, but it didn’t work! It ended up being absolutely wonderful (maybe not according to the girls in my office), but there is something to be said for complete peace! So enjoy the rest of your summer, with all we do all year we deserve it!!
